Uploading files to your Host account will become a regular occurrence throughout the semester. Basically, you log into your ftp server and select the files on your local computer you want to put into the Host account. In order to to this you must be connected to the Internet.

Be sure they all go in the same directory on the Host that they are stored on your Local machine.

I will give instructions for both Windows and Macintosh.

Macintosh using Fetch 4.0.2

Launch Software

First, select Raw Data from the Format: popup menu.

This is important, as files uploaded with different formats may or may not work.

Go to the Finder and open your local 575_website directory.

Arrange the window so you can see the Fetch dialog box and your open 575_website directory.

Select the files on your local copy of 575_website that are to be uploaded.

In this example, you will select both the index.html file and the personal directory.

Drag these files over the Fetch dialog box. When you see a blue rectangle around the Fetch dialog box, release the mouse and the files will upload.

This procedure will work whether or not there is a personal directory on the Host computer.

The doggie will run for a second or two, then you will see that all your files have been uploaded.

And that's it. Your Web site is now published. You can access it at:

where your_last_name is, well, your last name.
