Assignment 3 is a combination of all the advanced exercises in the second part of the class. This means that the following exercises must be completed and linked to your Web site by the final day of class:

While these skills are laid out in weekly agendas, they will also be posted in BlackBoard in order to allow you to work on them as you will.

Tables

Use tables as page layout tools by creating the following versions of the I Ching. Do not look at the code unless you must. Post the Table Version to your Web Site:

  1. Download the basic text file and the needed resources.
  2. View the files. There are three versions linked together.
    1. Plain
    2. Nicer Format
    3. Table Version
  3. Create the code
  4. Post and link to your Site when you are done

Resources are found on the July 14 agenda

Forms

Create and post a form showing at least 4 different elements. You may post your version of Exercise 2 from July 5. Or create a form that will be useful to you.

Note: Many have reported problems with the "mailto:" method. Don't worry if the form does not post; just make a form using the proper HTML and it will satisfy this part of the requirement.

Image Maps

Modify your midterm using a provided navigation graphic that you use as an image map. This means you will replace the four graphic buttons with a single graphic and divide it into four "hot spots."

Cascading Style Sheets

Notice how my heading above is purple and in a sans-serif font? That's because I use a style sheet for all my pages. A style sheet is an external file that contains commands to redefine how HTML tags appear on a page. The heading above is written <h3>Cascading Style Sheets</h3>, but the style sheet gives it a different color and font than the browser would have.

The resources are found on the July 21 agenda

This final part of the exercise is for you to add a style sheet to one or more pages in your website.
