Directions: Use an external style sheet to make the required format changes in the following document. Instructions are in brackets. Use Internet Explorer 5 to preview the document.

Here's an example of what it may look like.

[body background color should default to white;
body text color should default to black]

[h1 through h6 - apply a sans serif font to all headings;
set each heading to an ever decreasing relative font size;
set each heading to an ever decreasing relative line height;
make h5 and h6 headings italic;
make each heading a unique color;
give h1 headings a background;
set h1 headings to a wider letter spacing;
center h1 and h2 headings;]

This is the title of this document

It consists of different formats

Many of them are headings

These could be used for sub headings

When headings are small, they are often best italicized
Even an H6 heading should be larger than the paragraph text

[paragraphs should have their first lines indented;
(extra credit - not in Castro) there should be no white space between paragraphs]

You can create many different kinds of lists. First, of course, there is the standard paragraph, such as this one. While it is not so interesting, it does go on and on and on...

But eventually a second paragraph will be needed. This line should introduce you to other formats, but rather than do that, we'll just start seeing them:

What if you want a return
without causing the paragraph break? I just did it. Can you?

What else do you do with HTML?

[All lists should use a slightly smaller font size than paragraphs, and be set in the same font face;]
(extra credit)
number lists should be shown in roman numerals
the bullet list should use this graphic - ;
definition terms should be bold
definitions should be italic with a light background color]

Well, there are lists:

  1. This is item one on a numbered list
  2. This is item two on a numbered list
  3. This is item three on a numbered list
  4. This is item four on a numbered list
Important Term
Definition number one
Zyzxx
Definition number two
Another Term
Definition number three

So what're the important things to know here?

That:

  1. HTML give limited control of document appearance
  2. That HTML is cross platform
  3. Yet different browsers will interpret some tags uniquely

But I can at least list some definitions of

Browser
(insert the definition)
Hypertext
(insert the definition)
Dynamic Media
(insert the definition)
Interactive
(insert the definition)
URL
(insert the definition)
