The systems approach (Moore and Kearsley)

Why is it important to divide all this up? And what did you think about the idea of "craft" DE?

What we need is a system. Or is it? M&K's ideas of a system is that there are at least two and preferably five "departments" involved with the creation, support and delivery of DE. How can such an idea help and/or hinder distance education.

Components of DE include

  1. Sources of Knowledge
  2. Instructional Design
  3. Media Choice
  4. Interaction (tutors and teachers)
  5. Learning environment
