Introduction to Cognition and Instructional Design

• Read Syllabus
• Set up ODU email account

Please Note - all class mail will be sent to your ODU email address. If you would prefer to receive your email at another address, you must have your email forwarded. This is easily done.

• Foward ODU email to another account
• When they ask for Account Name, enter your ODU email name (no "@odu.edu")

BlackBoard

This class will use ODU's online component, BlackBoard, as a place to meet between weeks. This is a Web-based educational area that allows document distribution, testing, file distribution and conversation, both sychronous and asynchronous.

Learn BlackBoard

• Access http://www.odu.edu/dl/clt/bb/student_help_page.html
• Take the BlackBoard Basics course
• Read Getting Started in your BlackBoard 5 course

Post an introduction

• Log into BlackBoard (if you are not already) at http://www.blackboard.odu.edu
• Post a message introducing yourself in the Introductions forum
  • Click on Communication - Discussion Board - Introductions
  • Click on Add New Thread to create your introduction

Note that you must have an account complete with userid and password. These are you ODU email account name and password.

Learning Biography

On what basis do we make the educational decisions? Reflect on your practice and see if you can identify the source(s) of your educational experience. If may help to describe situtations that were particularly effective in your student days. Come up with a picture of how you learn.

Write a short (3 page double spaced) description of how you learn. Include successes and failures.
