Process
This midterm question will involve three steps:
- Please select a learning or educational situation with which your
are familiar with. It can be a class or training you are currently teaching,
a class or training you are currently a student in, or some situation
with which you are very familiar. Provide a description of this situation
for an educationally literate person who most likely does not anything
about the subject matter being dealt with in your situation.
- Describe the conduct of this educational situation by applying the
cognitive perspective that fits it best. You selection may be a behavioristic
learning situation, for instance. Give examples as to why you feel your
educational situation is behavioristic; what makes it look that way
to you? Take time and give detailed descriptions of cases that back
your stance.
- Describe how this educational situation would change if a different
cognitive perspective was applied to the conduct of the instruction.
For instance, if you were discussing a behavioristic situation, what
would it look like if a Piagetian cognitive psychology was applied instead?
Instruction would probably become more oriented towards stages, etc.
