FCP iconCapturing Movies and Keeping Files Together

It is important to realize that when a Final Cut Pro document is saved, the ".fcp" file that is saved is not a collection of all your clips, but rather a sort of table of contents. When copying your project to a hard drive or burning it to a disc, all the files must go together and maintain their relationship.

So, when working on a project, say in the ETMC, first do the following:

On the hard drive of the computer, create a folder with your name folder in finder
Launch Final Cut Express HD
Immediately select System Settings... from the Final Cut Express HD menu. FCE_settings
Choose the Scratch Disks tab scratch_tab
Click on the Set... button FCE_set
Find the folder you just made and click choose. choose folder

Now all of your files will be in one folder, and when you are finished with your editing session you can just drag the folder to your storage disc and all your files will work.
