Where learning takes place

Web Pages

In Blackboard, there is a choice under Tools click on Homepage. This is a form that will enable you to create a personal page for HRD 480. What I'd like is the following:

• Your name
• A picture (ideally 150 pixels by 150 pixels, if you know what that means)
• A couple of interesting things about you
• Some external web links you like

These Web pages are not accessable outside of our immediate class, so you don't have to worry about your information getting to the outside world. Rather, they are just another way for us to get to know one another.

Papers

You personal learning reports are due today. To start the class, state what category your experience belongs in and why:

• Formal
• Nonformal
  • Community-based
  • Indigenous
• Informal
• Online

Complete this exercise at your tables, then discuss your ideas with those around you. Finally, write down your conclusion on a separate piece of paper and attach it to your report before turning it it in.

Categories of Learning

All of these, of course, are categories of learning that can be helpful when considering the kinds of resources you will have access to in your field. Each is a specific design problem, yet each has unique possibilities.

• Come up with an example of each category of learning in your area
• Begin reading Chapter 3
