While teaching is ultimately an art, it is often useful to begin with a set of guidelines to help guide the development of that art. To that end we will discuss Robert Gagné's Events of instruction. This set of nine principles is rooted in cognitive information processing theory, and is the result of observing successful teacher practice.
After reviewing these guidelines, each table will continue with your instructional design exercise from last class. Using your performance objectives as a guide, design an event for each of the 9 steps of instruction.
